1st4 Nutrition BMI

Body Mass Index  (or Quetelt Index) is a measure that compares a person's weight and height.Though it does not measure body fat, it is a useful estimation. It is based on two easy measures, the height and weight. The BMI = Weight (Kgs) / Height (m) squared.

A Normal BMI is taken as 19-25
Whilst <19 is seen as underweight
>25 is overweight
>30 is obese

There are exceptions, fit muscular people (muscle is denser than fat)  e.g rugby players can have a high BMI. Taller people also tend to have a higher BMI, due to the calculation.
